New Bike Gear

On September 11, 2012

Last weekend I finished installing a granny gear on my Surly CrossCheck. Surly’s site said that the only new parts needed were a longer bottom bracket, the gear, and chainring bolts. After installing the gear I noticed that the front derailleur that came stock on the bike was a double. It was able to work, but isn’t the smoothest solution. Check out the picture of the clearance between the largest ring and the derailleur below. I think my next upgrade to the SS Che will be a new front derailleur to make shifting smoother.

Today I received the first of many packages of my South America gear spending spree. In total I got new fuel bottles, my bike trailer Bob, spare pins for the trailer, a bike multi tool, and tire patch kits.
