Methow Valley

On January 28, 2014

This weekend I went on a much needed vacation. I took two days off work and went to the Methow Valley in Washington (near Winthrop) to learn how to cross country ski and take my fat bike out for a spin. This was the first time cross country skiing in my life, which after downhill skiing for the first time a few months ago, makes this winter quite the adventure.

Siera taught me how to ski (classic) on the thin and icy trails. The conditions in the valley have been less than ideal due to a severe lack of snowfall. Usually this area is a mecca for cross country skiing with over 200 km of groomed trails. We also spent a day fat biking in the snow. I found cycling around off trail a bit more fun, but it’s hard to deny the exhilaration of the groomed snow trails.
