Parque Provincial Ischigualasto

On March 16, 2013

I decided to take a bus tour to Parque Provincial Ischigualasto, a few hundred kilometers away from San Juan. I went with three French girls I met at my hostel. We happened to go on one of the very few misty days in the park. The ranger said in six years he hadn’t seen weather like this. If it would’ve rained the park would have been closed due to dry river beds turning into meter deep currents across the road. This is due to the rock sediment not allowing water to soak through. There are many crazy rock formations, my favorite being the round balls that form under the surface and get exposed through wind.

I learned just how crazy Argentinian drivers can be, especially at night. Driving with no lights, paying no attention to no passing zones, disregarding speed limits, bicycles and scooters with no lights driving on the shoulder, passing on the shoulder…… I’m surprised there aren’t more accidents.

Tonight I patched my handlebar bag and Bob trailer bag with copious amounts of epoxy and some tape. It seems to have worked once I mixed the epoxy well enough. Hopefully it holds up.
