Akureyri – Iceland day 5

On December 26, 2012

After driving 75% around Iceland, a day of rest was well received. Not having to move the car or spend hours in it was quite the relief when waking up in the morning. There was an awesome bakery down the street where we tried a variety of pastries (and coffee of course). Akureyri is a rather small town with a population of only 17,800. There are a few square blocks of shopping, bars, and restaurants surrounded by residential on one side and the fjord on the other. One day was quite enough to see the whole town. Kaldi, the only microbrewery in Iceland (that I found) is located just north of town. This is also the only place we found it served. They had a dark and Christmas beer on tap and it was extremely delicious.
