Stein Tool

On December 13, 2012

The final tool purchase was a tiny lock ring remover. Normally to remove the lock ring on the rear cassette you need a chain whip, a lock ring tool, and a wrench to turn the lock ring. The only reasons why I would want to remove it is to adjust the hub or replace drive side spokes. I may never need to do this on my trip and the tools are hard to justify carrying. Matt (he biked over 14,000 miles through the Americas) told me about a tiny tool that will do the job. I decided the price was worth the peace of mind. It is incredibly small and light so I won’t even notice carrying it. It worked perfectly the first time, despite the horrible pictures in the instructions…
